More Animals of the World
by Craig Inanen

The Alligator

The Alligator shows his teeth
When he begins to smile
He’s thinking of his dinner
Being served in just a while

The Beetle

The Beetle’s frequently the victim of mistaken identity
But it don’t play no Rock and Roll as you can plainly see
You can easily confirm this
If you have one in for tea

The Crocodile

The Crocodile’s beguiling smile
Might fool you for a little while
Pet one and you will clearly see
That it’s no friend to you or me

The Firefly

Let’s not forget the Firefly
Who carries a candle as he goes by
It’s very small as you can see
And lights the way for you and me

The Hare

The Hare has been misunderstood
And often chased by hounds
It only wishes to do good
And stroll about the grounds

The Herring

In the realm of militant fish don’t overlook the Herring
It swims beneath the ocean blue performing feats of daring
Entire schools attack the nets – Flags flying, trumpets blaring
But victory is elusive in the North Sea and the Bering

The Mosquito

In the dusk and early morning
Zzzzzzz-zzzzzzz-zzzzzz you hear the warning
That irritable annoying high-pitched whine
Means the Mosquito has come to dine

The Mouse

The Mouse reproduces
A great deal faster than mooses
So if one comes to live with you
Be very careful that there aren’t two

The Penguin

The Royal Penguin is a formal bird
That always wears a tux
It socializes with its herd
And never geese or ducks

The Pomeranian

The Pomeranian goes “Yap! Yap! Yap!”
And maybe barks a bit
The Pomeranian’s not a very big dog
But don’t you mess with it

The Really Big Spider

The Really Big Spider is invariably seen
Relaxing on the sofa with a magazine
Sightings are frequently announced it seems
By very loud shouts or tiny little screams

The Sardine

Sardines are found in oceans
And also little tins
One is what they come in
The other’s where they swim

The Sparrow

The Sparrow wears a suit of brown
It rarely ever goes to town
But you might chance to hear it sing
What joys the little Sparrows bring!

The Tortoise

The Tortoise is so very slow
It always has somewhere to go
He likes it arid, hot and dry
There goes the Tortoise……….. passing………… by

The Turkey Vulture

Be like the Turkey Vulture my child
An animal successful in the wild
Exercise patience, use your head
And don’t eat your food before it’s dead

The Unicorn

The Unicorn don’t live here anymore
He was in the front upon the second floor
He went out one evening to the local grocery store
And never came back
The End of The Unicorn was unexpectedly abrupt

The Wolf

The Wolf’s a patron of the arts
Opera, ballet and dance
Observe him in his box seat
Cummerbund and striped pants
