He Said ~ She Said
by M. Allman

Melissa shivered with excitement as she danced into her apartment. She had to call Sara, but first, the night had to be documented in her diary. Her hand shook as she jotted down the details.

July 27, 2006

Dear Diary,

I had the best blind date tonight. I wore Chanel No. 5 and a top with a plunging neckline. I’m sure Tom was impressed. He’s so handsome with his bright smile and dark hair, but I couldn’t see his eyes. He wore dark glasses. How mysterious!

He didn’t talk much, so I’d say he’s the quiet type and a good listener as he hung on my every word. I allowed him to order for use—sausage pizza with extra mozzarella. It’s his favorite.

I’ve never met such a gentleman. He opened the car door for me and didn’t try to scam a goodnight kiss. I will be waiting for his next call.

As soon as Tom walked in the door, his friend Jeff followed him. “So, how’d it go?”

Tom plopped down on the sofa. “It was horrible! I never knew a person could talk so much about nothing. She chattered on so much, she didn’t even notice a piece of sausage fell from her mouth into her top. I started to say something but couldn’t get a word in. It was a boring night. I left my sunglasses on the entire night, so she wouldn’t notice me nodding off.

She did let me choose the pizza toppings, but her perfume so strong, it was all I could taste.

“So, no kiss goodnight? Jeff chuckled.

“No! I pulled up to her apartment and opened the passenger door, so she’d hurry up and get out. Tell Sara I’ll find my own dates from now on.”

Jeff called Sara to compare notes. After listening to the Melissa side of the story he asked, “Are you sure they were on the same date?” They both laughed.
