The Busker
by Roger Pattison

He was grubby. He was not a little smelly. His shoes opened at the sole to show a pair of very distressed socks.

He’d been sat outside Marks and Spencer’s all afternoon and hadn’t played so much as one C chord, and yet his open guitar case overflowed with cash.

The sign said, simply, “If you don’t put something in here, I’ll start singing.”

The End. (Sung to the tune of 'Danny Boy')
