Prevailing Winds,
V1.2
by Rick Tornello
The prevailing
winds, the prevailing winds, the
prevailing winds…
The prevailing winds slip off the ocean,
across the land
invisible to the eye’s mind and into
the body politic
& coming down the party line
openly reflected in the daily twittering
& sound bites passed off as rhetoric.
So afraid of this and afraid of that,
of publicly walking, of publicly talking,
& now with AI monitoring
off the ocean, off the land;
from the sky & at the slightest
untoward thought or word mentioned,
trembling we take no stand.
In this perfect political storm
capsized and adrift in the prevailing
winds
we wear our cape fear, cold, indifferent
and numb.
Of this have we become? |
