For He's A Jolly Good Fellow

He opened his eyes. Daylight steamed through the window.

“I’ve done it,” he thought exultantly.

Yesterday had been quite a day – birthday cake, gifts, party to celebrate. And the family - they’d all come along to see him. Make sure he was still alive. Vultures! All of ‘em were just waiting for him to pop off - get their hands on all his lovely money. Well they could all just whistle.

“I’ve showed ‘em! One hundred years young – and still going strong!” He cackled, whilst feebly pawing at the covers.

And now they’d have to wait at least another day.
